Painting Contractor Website Design

A painting contractor website has one job: show the work and make it easy to ask for a number. Before and after pairs above the fold, separate pages for interior, exterior and cabinets, an estimate form that takes photos, reviews on the first screen. Ours is $399 and live in 24 hours.

TL;DR

  • Painting is the one trade a customer can judge from a photo. The before and after gallery is not decoration, it is the product page.
  • Interior, exterior and cabinet painting are three different buyers at three price points. Give each one a page.
  • I checked nine live painting company sites and read the raw HTML of seven of their estimate or contact forms. Zero file inputs. Not one lets a homeowner attach a photo. That is the easiest edge on this list.
  • Overnight Site: $399, live in 24 hours or it is free. Engine, with the separate service and area pages: from $699 in 2 to 4 days.

Nine real painting contractor sites, and what each one does right

I pulled the live HTML of nine painting company websites in September 2026. Not mockups, not agency screenshots. Every line in quotes below is copied from the page as it shipped, and each one ends with the single thing worth stealing.

Hedlund Painting, Seattle

The H1 on hedlundpainting.com is Seattle-Area Painters You Can Trust with a second line inside the same heading: Backed by a 10-Year Warranty. The sub-line under it runs the whole service list in one breath: Interior, exterior, cabinet, and commercial painting done right the first time. A strip pinned to the bottom of the hero runs badges only, Top Rated on Google, EPA Lead-Safe Certified, BBB Accredited A+, with the actual numbers further down: a stat block reading 122 next to verified reviews, and 4.9 with a reviewCount of 122 in the page's structured data. The nav has a Trust column linking to 10-Year Warranty and Lead-Safe Certified.

Steal this: put the warranty inside the H1, not in a badge at the bottom. It is the objection, so answer it in the first two seconds.

Nolan Painting, Philadelphia

The hero on nolanpainting.com carries 4.9 (1,500+ 5 Star Reviews), and the same numbers appear in the page's structured data as an AggregateRating with a reviewCount of 1500, so Google can read it too. The estimate form asks the usual name, address and project description, then adds a dropdown almost nobody else has: Was your home built before 1978? The gallery is a nav item called Project Gallery.

Steal this: the 1978 question. The EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule requires anyone paid to disturb painted surfaces in pre-1978 homes to be certified and trained in lead-safe work practices. Asking on the form qualifies the job and signals you know the rule exists.

Catchlight Painting, Boston area

Catchlight leads with Beautiful, Lasting Results. Below it is a promise signed by a human: the line ends every project, every time. attributed to Nigel Costolloe, Owner. The portfolio is not one dumped grid. It is four labelled tiles: EXTERIOR PORTFOLIO, INTERIOR PORTFOLIO, KITCHEN PORTFOLIO, RESTORATION PORTFOLIO.

Steal this: split the gallery by job type. A homeowner pricing a kitchen does not want to scroll past nine house exteriors to find one cabinet job.

Paint Denver

Paint Denver opens with The Denver Painting Company You Can Trust, sub-line Exceptional Results and 5-Star Service, and a quote form sitting in the hero itself under the heading Get a Free Quote. The warranty is stated as a number, not a vibe: limited seven-year warranty with all services. The gallery section is headed Recent Denver House Painting Projects.

Steal this: the city in the gallery heading. Free local relevance on the one section of the page that is otherwise all images and no text.

New Life Painting, Central Coast California

The H1 on newlifepainting.com is Trusted Painters for Homes, Businesses & HOAs. Directly under it, one line doing four jobs at once: Free estimate • No obligation • Serving the Central Coast since 1978 • Lic. #959135. In the footer, California Contractor License #959135 is a live link to the state's CSLB licence lookup, so anyone can check it in a click. The button says Get My Free Painting Quote.

Steal this: link your licence number to the state licence board lookup for your state. Printing a number is a claim. Linking it is proof.

Arizona Painting Company

The H1 on arizonapaintingcompany.com is the flat Professional Painting Services Across Arizona. The line that actually does the selling is a section heading further down: Most Trusted Painting Company by Arizona Homeowners! with Serving Phoenix and Tucson with professional painting services, including residential, commercial, interior and exterior painting. under it, then Schedule A Free Estimate! Cabinet work gets its own URL rather than a bullet on a services page.

Steal this: put the selling line in the H1, not in a blue box halfway down. And give cabinets their own page. Cabinets are a different price band, a different search and a different decision from painting a house.

Improovy

The H1 on improovy.com is 5-Star House Painting Service with Improovy. The stat strip in the hero is the interesting part: Receive an estimate in minutes, not days next to 2,100+ and Houses painted. They offer three ways to get quoted, one of which is a Video Walkthrough rather than a site visit.

Steal this: put a time on the estimate. Everyone offers a free estimate. Almost nobody says how fast it arrives, and the wait is the actual complaint homeowners have about painters.

Arch Painting

Arch Painting leads with Your Vision, Brought to Life. The guarantee is named and specific: The White Glove Guarantee starts with no money down, regardless of project size, and ends with results backed by up to a two-year warranty.

Steal this: name the guarantee and state the money term inside it. No money down removes the risk before the reader has to trust anything else on the page.

360° Painting

360° Painting runs 360° of Possibilities over Paint Services For All Surfaces. The warranty is split by trade instead of averaged: Get worry-free results with a 2-year paint and 6-month carpentry warranty. They also run a Color Visualizer.

Steal this: the split warranty. Different coverage on paint and on carpentry reads as honest, because it is. The colour visualizer is a nice toy. Get the gallery and the form right first.

The thing none of them do

I grepped the raw HTML of every form I could read across the nine: Hedlund, Nolan, Paint Denver and New Life on the homepage, Catchlight and 360° Painting on their contact pages, Improovy on its quote page. Seven forms, zero file inputs. Not one lets a homeowner attach a photo of the room they want painted. Arch Painting and Arizona Painting build their forms in JavaScript, so I could not read those two either way.

Think about what that costs. Someone wants two bedrooms and a hallway done. They fill in a form, you call, you book Thursday, you drive out, you measure, you write the quote, you email it Friday. Four days and a tank of fuel. One photo upload kills most of that: you ballpark the range on the phone and only drive out for jobs worth the drive.

It is one field. <input type="file" multiple accept="image/*">. On a phone it opens the camera roll. It is the widest open gap I found on painting contractor websites, and it costs you nothing to close it.

Painting is one of the few trades where the customer can judge the work from a photo. They cannot assess your wiring or your flashing. They can absolutely tell whether your cut lines are straight and whether the second coat covered. So the gallery is not a portfolio section, it is the product page. Build it like one:

  • Pairs, not singles. A finished room is a stock photo. A tired room next to the same room finished is proof.
  • Split by job type, the way Catchlight does it. Interior, exterior, cabinets, at minimum.
  • Caption every pair with the suburb and the scope. "Kitchen cabinets, sprayed, two-day turnaround, Northside" beats a filename.
  • Your own photos, shot on a phone, in real light. Stock photography on a painter's site is the fastest way to look like you have nothing to show.
  • Compressed. Twenty full-size photos is a site nobody on 4G ever sees.

Interior, exterior and cabinets are three different buyers

They search differently, buy at different price points and decide on different timelines. One page called Services listing all three competes for three keywords and wins none. Here is the map we build.

PageWho lands thereWhat has to be on it
Interior paintingRepaint before a move, a baby, or a sale. Decides in weeks.Room-by-room pricing logic, dust and furniture handling, how many days they lose the room
Exterior paintingPeeling, HOA letter, or selling. Weather-gated, decides fast in season.Prep and repair scope, warranty in years, the booking window for this season
Cabinet paintingKitchen refresh instead of a remodel. Compares you against ripping the kitchen out.Spray vs brush, doors on or off site, before and after pairs, days without a kitchen
Commercial or HOAProperty manager, not a homeowner. Wants insurance and scheduling.Insurance certificate, after-hours work, references, a proper contact route
Service area pagesAnyone typing "painters in [town]"Real local jobs, real local photos, not a town name swapped into a template

Four to six pages, not twenty. A page you cannot fill with something real hurts you.

The exterior window is short, and your site has to know it

Exterior work is seasonal and interior work is not. That is the whole scheduling problem of a painting business, and most painting websites say nothing about it.

The fix is one line above the estimate form that you change twice a year. In spring: booking exteriors for [month], interiors any time. In late autumn: exterior season is closed, booking interiors and cabinets through winter. It sets the expectation so nobody calls angry about a two-month wait, it creates real urgency in spring when you want the calendar filled, and it keeps the winter pipeline pointed at work you can actually do in December. On our builds you WhatsApp us the new line and it changes the same day.

Reviews go above the fold, or they do not count

Nolan puts 4.9 (1,500+ 5 Star Reviews) in the hero, first screen, before anything else. Hedlund does not. Its hero strip carries badges, Top Rated on Google and BBB Accredited A+, and you have to scroll to a reviews section to reach 122 and verified reviews. Nolan wins that trade. Both of them do feed the rating and the count into structured data, so search engines read the number even when a human has to scroll for it.

The rule: count and average in the first screen, review text further down. A testimonials page nobody clicks is not social proof, it is storage. And pull them live from Google rather than typing them in, because a hand-typed testimonial block reads like it was written by the owner's cousin, and usually was.

What it costs and how long it takes

Nobody in the top results for this query will tell you a price, so here is ours, flat.

ABOVE THE FORM: "Free estimate. We reply the same day."
+ one seasonal line you change twice a year.
BELOW THE BUTTON: your licence number, linked to the state lookup.

Field 7 is the one that pays for the whole form. Field 9 is the one that keeps you legal.

What you do not need

No colour visualizer. No blog. No chatbot standing between a homeowner and your phone number, and definitely not a build with a monthly fee attached to a page you are not allowed to edit.

What moves work for a painting company is a fast site with real before and after photos, a form that takes a picture, reviews on the first screen and a filled-out Google Business Profile. The rest is somebody else's upsell. For the trade body view on standards and certification rather than ours, the Painting Contractors Association is worth reading.

FAQ

How much does a painting contractor website cost?

Ours is $399 for the Overnight Site and it is live in 24 hours or you pay nothing. That covers a fast mobile-first page with your before and after gallery, tap-to-call, an estimate form with photo upload and your Google Business link. If you want interior, exterior and cabinet pages plus service area pages and a proper quote flow, that is the Engine build, from $699, live in 2 to 4 days. Fixed price up front, no monthly fee, and the site sits in your own accounts from day one.

What should be on a painting company website?

Before and after photo pairs split by job type, your reviews count and average on the first screen, your licence number linked to the state lookup, the towns you actually drive to, and a free estimate form that lets someone attach photos. That is the whole list. Everything the nine sites I checked do well fits inside it: Hedlund puts the warranty in the H1, Catchlight splits the portfolio four ways, New Life links its licence straight to the state board.

Do I need separate pages for interior, exterior and cabinet painting?

Yes, if you want to be found for all three. They are different searches, different price bands and different decisions. Somebody pricing cabinets is comparing you against a full kitchen remodel, not against a room repaint, and the page has to argue that case. One Services page listing all three competes for three keywords and wins none. Four to six real pages beats twenty thin ones every time.

Should my estimate form let people upload photos?

It should, and almost nobody's does. I read the raw HTML of seven estimate and contact forms across nine painting companies and found zero file inputs. Two or three photos let you give a range on the phone and only drive out for jobs worth the drive. On a phone the field opens the camera roll, so it costs the homeowner about ten seconds. It is one line of HTML and it is the widest open gap in this trade online.

How do I handle the exterior season on my website?

One line above the estimate form that you change twice a year. In spring: booking exteriors for the next month, interiors any time. In late autumn: exterior season is closed, booking interiors and cabinets through winter. It sets expectations, it creates real urgency when you want the calendar filled, and it keeps the winter pipeline pointed at work you can actually do. On our builds you send us the new line on WhatsApp and it changes the same day.

Will a website get me ranking for painters in my town?

Not on its own. What moves local rankings is the site plus a complete Google Business Profile, reviews arriving steadily, and a real page for each area you cover with real local jobs on it, not a template with the town name swapped. We build for that and we will tell you straight what it takes. We do not sell a ranking guarantee, because nobody can honestly make one.

Do you have to be certified to paint older houses?

In the US, yes, for pre-1978 homes. The EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule requires anyone paid to disturb painted surfaces in homes and childcare facilities built before 1978 to be certified and trained in lead-safe work practices. Nolan Painting asks it on the estimate form as a dropdown, which is smart: it qualifies the job before you quote it and it tells the homeowner you know the rule exists.

You do not need a six week project and a monthly fee to get this. An Overnight Site is $399, live in 24 hours or it is free, with your gallery built, the estimate form set up to take photos and the copy written for you. Want the interior, exterior and cabinet pages too? That is the Engine build, from $699.
